As of January 2009 we became a family of six as we brought home our 2 (deaf) Ethiopian sons! January 2010 our 3rd daughter was born and now we are a family of 7! What a blessing! Jillian is a freelance American Sign Language(ASL) Interpreter but primarily a stay-at-home mom. Ashley is a Combat Engineer for the Marine Corps. This is a little of our journey!

Preparing for battle....

I have been texting and talking with friends today, trying to prepare for this brutal meeting in a couple hours. I have been told that I will be presenting "how we got to this point" to the group. My emotions are all over the place. How we got here? How we got here? God only knows! Where are we going? God only knows! How deeply is the entire family wounded from this? God only knows! How will we ever get to the otherside of this? God only knows!

Some of the ideas you guys have given me:
* show the pictures of the injuries, blood and feces
* be vulnerable and tell the story from the beginning
* be strong and stick to dates and facts
* bring a doctors note that says you have PTSD from the last 2 years and you can't give a statement
* just give them link for the blog
* take the Emergency Room notes showing neglectful care and limited resources
* list examples of his rage, list property damaged, list therapies tried
* bring character witnesses, and prepare for the family to be "under attack"
* be prepared to defend that he is even in the USA at all

...my favorite so far is: "Jillian, just open with a general statement saying: 'Today you aren't deciding if my son can be left in a place of healing or not, because I will see to it that he is allowed to remain and heal, regardless of what you say today.....No, today you are deciding your reputation and how you will be remembered throughout history when I publish our story for the world to read.'"

Thank you! Thank you for the support, the love, the compassion, the understanding, thank you for being my cheerleaders and for making me laugh. I love you guys!

Praying for you today. I know that things will work out as God has planned. I feel that the facility that he is in right now is the best place for him and I'm sure the committee will agree after they hear all the facts. You have the Lord by your side, giving you the strength you need.
