Journey to Health: Turkey with me....

One of my goals for Journey to Health is to run a 5k, no walking...run a 5k. Running is like a superpower for me. It is something I long for, dream of, aspire to...it is a superpower like flying because it has been completely out of reach for so long.

Thanks to marvelous friends, I now know that goal IS within reach. It is a superpower that I WILL posses and eventually master as well.

My husband and I are running a Thanksgiving 5k together. A handful of friends have also committed to running a 5K (or more) in their local area that same week in honor of this milestone in Journey to Health. We are brainstorming how best to make matching T-shirts to celebrate this accomplishment. We want to invite you to find a local race that Thanksgiving week or weekend, and run with us. Let us know and we can figure out how to best get you a matching T-shirt also.

Thanksgiving is roughly 13 weeks away! You can do it! Couch to 5k offers a 9 week program, I am spreading that out a bit to make it more feasible for me. You can do it too!  Leave me a comment or email and let me know your next milestone in your health, or better yet that you will celebrate with us by getting involved in your own local race that week.

I love Couch to 5K!!!!
I did it several years ago and got back to running regularly. A knee injury has put that out of business more recently, but I am hoping to get back to it when the weather cools a bit this fall.

You have encourage me to work on my own journey to health as well. I'm not much of a runner, nor desire it, as a matter of fact, I hate walking the treadmill but I am encouraged to do so! I have officially lost 12 lbs since beginning and don't have a goal "number" in mind, but there are 2 meds I desire to dump in the trash! One is for high triglycerides and the other is for high cholesterol. These are both family traits, but my doctor is pretty sure I can get rid of them in time with continuing the journey I'm on. I have already gotten rid of the diamox (for the brain fluid caused by IIH) and have moved on to Dandelion Root, which is natural, doesn't deplete my potassium or give me leg cramps & heart burn! Woo-hoo! One prescription pill gone, two more to get rid of! Thank you for your encouragement in so many ways I can't even say! You are a treasure!

Couch to 5K really works. You won't be lightning fast but you will do it! Glad hubby is home! :)

Let me see if I can find a Thanksgiving-ish 5k that will work. It might be a challenge because we try to see both families for that holiday (usually on T'giving day so I can't go into Charlotte for a race and make it back in time to cook and shower for Tday lunch but I'm going to look). If that doesn't work, I want you to think about coming to Charlotte in April for Run Big Dream Big III!! So honored to watch your journey (and I wanted to comment on every single post just now but held myself back). You are loved!
