The butterflies' fight...

Thank you Christall for this insightful comment on my blog....

I truly believe what we are seeing in our children is their metamorphosis into the beautiful, loving, inspiring and STRONG people that God meant them to be. Much like the butterfly experiences - metamorphosis is not completely devoid of pain. There is so much work to be done before their cocoon is spun, and while inside their bodies are changing and parts are dying and other parts reborn.

It hurts.

Our sweet children are in a place right now (Ava is SO there right now...) where they are shedding parts of their old lives and there are many wonderful parts being reborn - but it hurts.Soon they will begin emerging from their chrysalis. When butterflies emerge, it is not *pretty* (much to my dismay - I had some big fairy tale imaginings of how it happened). They often times flop around on the ground looking as if they were dying - but really, this process is vital in order to pump that life-giving blood and color into their beautiful wings. Without the pain and HARD work, they would wither and die. If a loving person were to come by and crack the chrysalis open before its time (in an effort to save the butterfly from having to do so much work) the butterfly would perish - you see, the pushing and pulling and stretching is what the butterfly HAS to do in order to come out on the other side alive and whole and beautiful.

Jillian - our children are pushing and stretching and growing and we are standing by their sides. We get to watch this most amazing transformation from what they were into what they are going to be. As much as it breaks my heart - we can't "do it" for them - but my goodness I can't wait to see what our children look like once they have the blood pumping through their wings. Once their true colors are revealed and their beauty is on display for all of the world. Won't that be a sight to behold....
